The Gauder Fest in Zell am Ziller, 1952
The picture shows the Gauder Fest in Zell am Ziller in 1952. This festival, which goes back to the tradition of Alpine Church Days, is one of the oldest festivals in the region. On the first weekend in May, the brewmaster of the city opens the barns and sheds of the Gauder estate for the competitions and the serving of strong beer. The picture shows two rams during the "Widderstossen" (ram fight) in the meadow, in the background you can see the crowd. Some photographers are right next to the struggling animals. In the meantime this animal competition became prohibited.
