The picture shows the Gauder Fest in Zell am Ziller in 1952. This festival, which goes back to the tradition of Alpine Church Days, is one of the oldest festivals in the region. On the first weekend in May, the brewmaster of the city opens the barns and sheds of the Gauder estate for the competitions and the serving of strong beer. The picture shows a farmer and his ram that has just won the "Widderstossen" (ram fight). He holds a pennant for the 1st place. By now this animal competition became prohibited.
