Photo of a commemorative glacial erratic that is supposed to remind people of the Battle of Altenesch on May 27, 1234 at Landtagsplatz in Hoesseringen near Suderburg in the Lueneburg Heath, Lower Saxony. Inscription: "For the 5300 killed residents of Stedinger, Altenesch, 27.5.1234". The photo was taken on the occasion of the inauguration of the Landtagplatz on June 28, 1936. In der frühen Neuzeit von 1532 bis 1652 diente der Platz als Versammlungstsätte des Landtags (Stände) des Fürstentums Lüneburg. Während der NS-Herrschaft wurde der Platz in seiner heutigen Form umgestaltet. Die Nationalsozialisten machten ihn zu einer germanischen Kultstätte. Der Platz sollte als Versammlungsstätte des Bauerntums dienen.
