The occasion was the inauguration of the Landtagsplatz by the National Socialists on 28 June, 1936. At the entrance of the farmer's house (Low German aisled house with thatched roof and gable ornamentation, horseheads) meet farmers' representatives (some in SA uniforms) and bystanders. Swastika flags are hanging on the gable. In der frühen Neuzeit von 1532 bis 1652 diente der Platz als Versammlungstsätte des Landtags (Stände) des Fürstentums Lüneburg. Während der NS-Herrschaft wurde der Platz in seiner heutigen Form umgestaltet. Die Nationalsozialisten machten ihn zu einer germanischen Kultstätte. Der Platz sollte als Versammlungsstätte des Bauerntums dienen.
