Preparations for war also include the construction of air-raid tunnels or trenches with a total length of 20 kilometres. Although these air-raid tunnels are equipped with heating systems and electric light, they are not gas-proof. Bombs weighing less than 100 kilos have no effect on the air-raid shelters, which provide protection for 80,000 people. The picture shows construction work around Porte de Saint-Cloud.
