Soldiers cover their ears during an exercise with a mine thrower. They are officer cadets in training. The mine thrower is a 17 cm mittlerer Minenwerfer (17 cm mMW), which was developed and produced during the First World War.

The picture is probably from the late 1920s. The Infantry School was founded in 1920 in Munich and moved to Dresden in 1926.

Reichswehr soldiers build a giant model of a battle, 1934

Reichswehr soldiers of the 11th Company of the 1st Prussian Infantry Regiment in Gumbinnen (now Gusev) when working on a giant model. In the drill hall is built a model of the Battle of Gumbinnen of 1914 at a scale of 1:1000. 13,000 toy soldiers are used to represent the troops. Among the soldiers involved in the construction there are the company commander Captain Prutz and the NCO corps of the company.

A Stabsgefreiter (staff lance corporal) of the German cavalry leads his horse out of a gas box. These were used to clean the horses of vermin. Due to the acute shortage of posts in the Reichswehr many long serving soldiers could not be promoted to noncommissioned officers and served as staff lance corporals, as trainers.
