establishment of the Protestant regional bishop in Bavaria Hans Meiser, 1933
Scene of the solemn inauguration of the new Protestant bishop in Bavaria, Hans Meiser. The church ceremony was held in the St. Lawrence Church in Nuremberg in the presence of the Bavarian Minister President Siebert, the chief of the State Chancellery, the State Minister Esser and the Minister of Culture Schemm. Subsequently, one goes to the Nuremberg town hall. On the way thither are, as shown in the picture: the old church president Veit, behind the new regional Bishop Hans Meiser and in the 3rd row the Bavarian government with State Minister Esser, Prime Minister Siebert and Minister of Culture Schemm. As prominent representatives of the Confessing Church, Meiser was supposed to be dismissed from his office in October 1934, however, after a few weeks he was employed again due to the resistance of communities against this measure.
