In the summer of 1916, on the initiative of the businessman Alfred Lohmann the "U-Derutschland" was sent to the U.S., in order to ship valuable raw materials to Germany. From the first trip the Deutschland brought raw rubber, tin and nickel back to Bremen. This picture shows the "Germany" at the height of Vegesack during the ceremony of the return to Bremen.
