The train with the German national football team arrived in Munich on 6.7.1954. The players and the coaching staff were brought to the City Hall by cars and buses through the cheering crowd. The city administration and many companies had given a day off to their employees, tens of thousands of people were waiting in the city center for the reception of the world champions by Mayor Wimmer.
