Photo of the interzonal train on the route Leipzig-Gutenfuerst-Hof-Munich. This train was known for its "all-German" dining car, which was popular due to the 1: 1 exchange rate, especially among East German travelers. Presumably, the uniformed man on the left was a customs official of the GDR, and all popular goods carried by the dining car had to be registered and documented in order to prevent smuggling.
