After a traffic accident victims are treated by paramedics until the rescue helicopter arrives. These missions with rescue helicopters were pilot projects of the Luftrettung (air rescue service) of Bundeswehr, Bergwacht (mountain rescue service) and doctors of Munich hospitals. As of 01.11.1970 the Bundeswehr withdrew from the project, the ADAC stepped in and with "Christoph 1" established the first continuous operation of a (civilian) rescue helicopter. The picture shows the arrival of the helicopter that lands on the other roadway.
