The picture shows the crew of the helicopter as they take the accident victim lying on the stretcher to the helicopter to fly to a hospital as quickly as possible. These operations with rescue helicopters were pilot projects of the Luftrettung (air rescue service) of Bundeswehr, Bergwacht (mountain rescue service) and doctors of Munich hospitals. As of 01.11.1970 the Bundeswehr withdrew from the project, the ADAC stepped in and with "Christoph 1" established the first continuous operation of a (civilian) rescue helicopter.
