Between 10 and 12 January 1954 several avalanche disasters occurred after extreme snowfalls in the Grosses Walsertal. It was immediately set up a large-scale operation of standby gendarmerie, fire departments, relief organizations and volunteers. The picture shows workers while digging a buried building out of snow.
