The Lange Strasse is a street built mainly in the style of the northern German brick Gothic starting 1953, and was intended to be representative of the "socialist" Rostock. This building was commissioned by the government of the GDR. Das Bild ist Teil einer Serie des Fotografen Alfred Strobel, der 1963 die DDR-Bezirke Schwerin und Rostock besuchte.
