Photo of a family of a Spanish national officer (right) looking for protection in the vaults of the Alcazar of Toledo during the siege by Republican troops. Im Alcazar von Toledo verschanzten sich vom 21. Juli bis zur Befreiung durch nationalspanische Truppen am 26. September 1936 ca. 1500 Kämpfer gegen republikanische Verbände. Die Festung wurde durch Artilleriebeschuss und Bombardierungen fast vollständig zerstört.
