Berlin: The 13-meter-high memorial to the KPD chairman Ernst Thälmann, murdered in the Buchenwald concentration camp in 1944, was erected in 1986 in the Thälmann Park on Greifswalder Strasse in the Prenzlauer Berg district, based on a design by the Soviet sculptor Lew Kerbel.
