During the January uprising, there were armed conflicts between left-wing revolutionaries and government-loyal Freikorps units in the Berlin Zeitungsviertel (newspaper quarter). Private homes were also affected by the fights. Here, a devastated private apartment on the third floor of the "Vorwaerts building".
