A charity event under the motto "An American Santa Claus for the wartime children of Berlin" took place during the Christmas period 1914. The event was attended by three of the Prussian princes. From left to right: Adolph von Wermuth, Lord Mayor of Berlin (1st row, 1st from left), Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia (4th from left), hereditary prince William of Prussia (5th from left), Prince Hubertus of Prussia (6th from left), Alfons Mumm von Schwarzenstein, former German ambassador to Japan (7th from left). Also present were Klara von Gersdorff, court lady of the Empress Auguste Victoria, and the American journalist John Callan O'Laughlin.
