In the summer of 1932, the hardship of more than 5 million unemployed and their families had grown so large that the money was sufficient either for the tram or for a ticket to the bath. Therefore, improvised outdoor pools were formed as here at the Kleine Stralauer Strasse on the river Spree in Berlin.
