Female assistant brings a man food and drink during the referendum in Marienburg (Malbork). Because of the Versailles Treaty a large part of West Prussia was given to Poland (Polish Corridor) without a referendum. On July 11, 1920 referendums were held in the West Prussian districts on the east side of the Vistula as well as in southern east Prussia about whether this region belonged to the German Reich or to Poland. 92% of the population of West Prussia and 98% of the population of east Prussia voted to stay in the Reich.
